Emil Brauchlin graduated from the University of St. Gallen (HSG). After working as an assistant at the Institute of Insurance Economics, he earned his living working for an insurance company. After completing his dissertation and a post-doctoral thesis, he served as associate professor and later ordinary professor at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). At the Institute of Management, founded by Hans Ulrich, he had the opportunity to examine and co-create the HSGs development system-oriented management. He founded the Research Centre for International Management at the HSG and focused his research on decision-oriented business administration and international management. Furthermore, he authored numerous books and specialist articles. Today, he is honorary chairman of the advisory board and chairman of the academic committee at the SGMI Institute of Management St. Gallen.
